This is about six streets over from my house. Closer to home, thus far is OK. Two blocks from my house where Bounce and I walk every day, the street along the ocean is undamaged thus far. I have several friends who live in the mountains outside of town and they are stuck in their houses due to road closures. Mudslides and fallen trees are closing roads and they periodically lose power. The rains are a blessing and yet now we are hoping they will stop soon and let the water soak in or run off.
There was no rain in my town on Sunday January 8 and I dared to drive to church Sunday and attend the small group gathering of 25 friends. My spirits were very lifted to be in fellowship with such good people. I did not attend the larger church service since I am mostly avoiding indoor gatherings. Especially since I live alone, I need to see people! Be well and safe friends.
The above was posted Jan. 11, and today, Jan. 18 I am happy to see the sunshine and no rain. Hurray.

Wow, that's crazy! I'm glad you are ok. I can't imagine how hard this is for the people who live right there.

California storms often hit the international news as well. I think when newsrooms want to remind us that others are worse off than we are.

We have been watching this on TV and checking on my blog friends. I did not know you were in the path of the storms. I am glad to hear you and Bounce are safe and pray the storms will stop for a while and let things dry out. we had 2 hurricanes in Nov that devasted most of the entire state of FL and several coastal roads were destroyed like yours. Yes, the chargers are battery packs to charge and carry with me.
I am so sorry for all the destruction to your area. how hard for all of you.

Sure is scary. We experienced mudslides, landslides and river runs on a trip to Nepal during the rainy season some years ago and boy was it messy and destructive. Stay safe over there.
I'm always scared of storms and heavy rains.Things seem to get worse everywhere. May God protect us!
That is scary! I sure hope your home stays safe. It must be wonderful to live by the ocean... but can be dangerous too apparently.

I'm so sorry about all of the disasterous weather that is taking place in California right now. It is hard to watch the videos and the photos of the damage. I didn't realize how close you are to the area. I've seen that photo many times online. I will definitely be praying for you my friend.

Oh the weather is so awful...Glad you are safe. In southern CA we have had a lot of rain, but two days of sun! Yeah.
We've been seeing the devastation on the news. I'm glad you are okay, at least so far, and hopefully the rain will let up and the mud and roads cleared. Take care.

I'm glad you had sunshine yesterday and that your street is safe. We do see news of the storms and rain and flooding in California. My nephew and family live in Granite Bay and have a cabin at Lake Tahoe. So I especially like to see what's going on in that part of the state.
I love to see your pictures of the Pacific. About five years ago I went to San Diego to take care of our baby grandson while our daughter-in-law attended a conference. Except we went on different flights. Hers never made it due to dense fog in our area. Mine had left during a break in the fog. So I ended up in San Diego by myself for several days! I will never forget seeing the Pacific for the first time when I took an Uber to Point Loma. I was in total awe and wander!

Hi Terra. Thanks for coming over to visit my blog. California is such a beautiful state with so much to offer, yet has some really rough times too - like the fires and drought and now an overabundance of rain all at once. My oldest son lives in Sacramento and because we lived in two different parts of the state, we have friends in Central and Southern California and we are praying the safety and well-being in all in the state. I am in Utah, and we have been getting the California storms and it has meant 200% of normal snowpack in the mountains for us, which is great for our extreme drought conditions. I hope you stay safe and have a good weekend! See you again soon. :-)

Yes, we had the great rains in northern California too, and there was flooding in the valleys, close to my hometown. I'm in the mountains now, so we didn't get the floods, but we did get quite a bit of rain. But we have to worry about those rock and mud slides. I'm glad you were safe in your area, Terra. The lakes are filled here cause of all the rain we received.

A friend in Santa Maria was sharing the rain that seemed to be non stop. We have had the bitter cold and snow, snow and more snow. I love the snow when the sun comes up and melts it but this has been so awful, all the bitter cold is something I could live without. I am grateful you have some sunshine. Be safe and take care.
