My Fight Smog Guitar From College and the Ocean

I was ahead of my time, fighting smog, with this sticker on my guitar case back in my college days. I still have the guitar and case and took the photo recently. I sang and played countless English folk songs (Silver Dagger which I still sing around the house when I am alone), the Civil Rights movement (Follow the Drinking Gourd), and lots of Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan songs.

Above is the view from a favorite restaurant near my house. Friends took me to birthday lunch there in April. Parking is expensive and hard to find near the beach and this restaurant has free parking for customers, a valet parks it for you. Of course I give a tip. More photos taken near my home near the ocean. I moved here more than 40 years ago and love the sea, it is a balm to my soul and body.

Two above photos taken at 10 a.m. this month, on a foggy slightly drizzly day. The temperature here is 59 degrees F today and a low of 51 degrees last night. My sister lives in Wisconsin where it is reaching a high of 4 degrees F. Brrrr. Stay warm!

How is your January going? Have a great day friends.

Neighborhood bits and bobs, ocean, hawk nesting platform

Look closely and you can see the nesting platform below the star on the roof of my neighbors' home. They must be great people, they put this platform on the roof of their house, and I have seen what looks like a hawk sitting on the star. It is two blocks from the ocean, perhaps it is a nest for ospreys or other ocean birds.

A closeup of the wisteria at my favorite coffee shop patio set in expansive church gardens across the street from the ocean.

The above rose in my garden is named Julia Child, a great name don't you think? I took this photo this week as it is in full bloom again. I likely share a photo of it here each year; it looks like a bouquet and is six feet tall and five feet wide. There is a lot of work I do to get it to bloom so profusely, mainly earlier this year I removed 1,000 or more spent flowers one by one which is called dead heading.

I took this photo recently, I must have accidentally selected black and white on my cell phone camera. It shows the cliffs and the ocean near my home. Are you enjoying this month of May and finding beauty around you?

The ocean near my home, Bounce and Fluffy and dog bed

I am posting this added info on November 8, as I have had no Internet/Wifi at my house since October 25. AT&T finally fixed it. I okayed 22 of your comments today, to show as posted, it took me this long since I had no Wifi. This post was scheduled to post on Nove. 1 and it automatically posted. I will start visiting blogs again, hurray. And watching TV and visiting rumble.com, etc. Thanks for taking the time to leave your kind comments, sweeties.

Bounce and I often walk from my house (our house) to the bay, to enjoy the fresh air and to experience all the pure beauty of the sea.

The sparkle of the waves gave me joy and you can see some students on the rocks on some sort of science outing. When I see the waves and feel the majesty of the ocean I do not fail to thank God for His creations. "He hath made everything beautiful." Ecclesiastes 3:11

Above is Fluffy and Bounce taking a nap together. Of course I woke them when I took the photo. Sorry to disturb you guys.

Above is Bounce in his favorite bed, which is actually a pretty shade of blue. He feels very comfy in there and we call him little taco.

Above he was sleeping. It is hard to get a picture of him sleeping, he usually wakes up.

Have a great day friends and enjoy the beauty around you.

Dog Bench I Saw and Ocean Photo

Bounce and I took a walk and found this bench facing the ocean, set up to honor three family dogs. The top line says "Dogs own nothing, yet are seldom dissatisfied." The bottom line says "Properly trained people are dogs' best friends."

Below is the ocean in a photo I took that day, near where the bench is.

Cypress tree, bay, antique mail box, cactus I saw on my walk

I saw this antique mailbox in my neighbor's yard today, as I walked to see the bay with Bounce.

Looking to the left I see these cypress trees, above.
To my right when facing the bay I see these powerful waves and the cliffs. I love these clouds.
Above is a succulent sitting on top of a pot which reminds me of a barrel cactus, so the succulent looks like it is growing out of a huge stem. There are lots of cactus in this neighbor's garden.

Wordless Wednesday Ocean and Retirement

The bay near our house in February 2016.

I have always enjoyed large bodies of water, growing up across the street from Lake Michigan, and now marveling at the changing moods of the Pacific Ocean near our home. Being retired means I walk along the ocean several times a week; the ocean is ever new and the air is so clean.
