Here is a photo of me on the patio of a favorite restaurant on April 23. Notice the two gifts of purple plants, my hat and the purple bag, I do love that color. My birthday was on April 25 and friends and family near and far have helped me celebrate. On the day of the photo we went to a restaurant that serves Mediterranean food with an Afghan twist. I had my usual spinach bolani and Maush awa soup with lamb. Sunday (today) my sons treated me to wonderful grilled seafood in a restaurant on the wharf.
Because there was a free jazz concert on the wharf we knew parking would be limited/impossible so I tried Uber for the first time and it worked very well. They picked us up at my house and delivered us back home.
My sons gave me the 23andme Ancestry package, a complete surprise. What secrets will it reveal? I will let you in on the results in future.I hear it take two weeks to get the results after I send in the sample.

Happy Belated birthday!!! I'm so glad you had a wonderful dinner with your sons! I'm a mama of sons so I can related to how special it is spending time with them. Isn't Uber fantastic, our sons turned us on to the new way of travel and it's really great and cheaper than a taxi for sure. When we went to San Diego for our family vacation we used Uber a lot. Parking around there is crazy next to impossible. Glad you experienced it, I'm sure it won't be your last.

Sounds like you had a wonderful birthday celebration with your friends and family. I LOVE your purple hat and the purple African Violet. I have one just like it (the violet, not the hat). I have found that violets are the only houseplant that I can grow, but it is because it is in the right window (eastern/southern exposure) and I use African violet "food" in their water each week. That makes all the difference. I'm so happy you had such a lovely birthday. What a joy!!! God bless you with many many more!
DNA testing was a wonderful gift. I bought my sister (we have different fathers) and my daughter a kit for Christmas after I did mine. My family history on my father's side is a bit complicated. I was never that curious when people were around to ask so I hoped I might understand a little more. Ancestry gives you a free week or two to research and I enjoyed that a lot but decided not to pay the yearly enrollment fee. I can always go back and do it if I change my mind.

I was at a point where I found my paternal grandfather's mother. I get very emotional. I spent a lot of time with my grandfather as a child, my grandmother passed away first. I also adored my maternal grandmother and spent half my free time with her too. Their stories were heartbreaking but they were so strong and such faithful people. I would like to continue my search.
