Wordless Wednesday and Three Pretty Cards

Three cards from two sweet pen pals of mine. Yes, we exchange cards written on paper via mail. Old school. The Bike and Mother with Babies cards are from Diane at Diane Wants to Write and the Easter card is from Jennifer at Sparrow Tree Journal
I am linking with Wordless Wednesday
Starting Over and Becky mentioned that paper cards can be expensive and Becky suggested Dollar Store. I have found pretty cards at rummage sales at churches for 10 cents each, and Trader Joe's has nice cards that are all 99 cents. In pharmacies and other stores that sell cards look for the 99 cent Hallmark cards. I do often buy fancy cards because they offer something special like art work or encouraging or funny quotes.
Oh, today on Amazon I discovered packs of 20 postcards for six dollars (yes, 30 cents each) so look out world, I will order some today.

I LOVE cards and I love the old school notion of sending cards. I think with each passing generation, we are losing vital components of our humanity because we, as a collective society, don't send letters, cards, or thank you notes very often because we want instant gratification/communication.

That's the best kind of mail to receive!

Thank you for your comment on my site - God is good and we are so much better both of us. Age is the only thing that is slowing us down :-)

Mail, real mail is such a treat. The cards are pretty, but the best is that they were chosen just for you.

I have noticed that the card section in the pharmacies are smaller than they once were. The cards have also gotten much too expensive. Times change, and now social media is the way people communicate. Isn't it lovely though to receive something that someone took the time and effort to send to us.

Oh, I love to send and receive snail mail, too! It's so fun to see something personal in the mailbox, other than bills and junk! I have a few friends that we do this, but need to start sending them more often. You've just inspired me!

And to Starting Over, Accepting Changes...I agree that greeting cards are SO expensive now! Many times they're about $5.00 per card. But there are a couple of solutions. One thing is Dollar Tree or other "dollar stores." Do you have any near you? Although everything is supposed to be a dollar...the cards are usually only 50¢! And I also make my own cards sometimes. I am NOT an artist or very crafty, but you can get plain cards and envelopes at pretty good prices and then either buy a few stickers to put on them, or even cut out pictures from magazines and get out your glue stick!

Sorry, I rambled on and on....I better get back to my chores, so I'll have time to write a note or two! :)

Oh, and thanks for stopping and commenting on my blog, too!

I agree with Pondside about real mail being such a treat. And a lasting one. I have cards which come out again each season. These are lovely! x

I love getting cards in the mail...now that most people don't do that anymore. I got a few Easter cards this year, and I sent them out, too!
Your's are so pretty.

Terra, the "mother with babies" card looks so vintage. How nice that you exchange notes and cards with friends. It's always a surprise to get a handwritten card in the mail. I still love doing this. Oh, and I know what you mean about the 99 cent cards. Some of them are so delightful.
