Mine would be: The best Exotic Marigold Hotel; Beckett (with Peter O'Toole and Richard Burton); Amazing Grace; Lawrence of Arabia. There are others but I can't bring them to mind right now.
I love the movie, "Out of Africa".
You have quite a few that would be on my list also, although I would never see anything staring Mel Gibson. He is an especially vile man who seems to be obsessed with violence.
Some of my all time favorites include Gandhi and Out of Africa. I also loved The Kings Speech and must watch Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation every year. We used to go to the movies all the time but I hate all this blow or shoot them up pictures and now we mostly just attend funny Pixar movies with my grandchildren. I have returned to my childhood.
I enjoyed peeking into your list :) I love several of the same movies-Hugs to You-Denise
It's a Wonderful Life
Pollyanna
Gone With the Wind
thanks for sharing, nice list.
I am not much a movie watcher so can not make a list....but the ones I do watch all the old ones. Interesting to see what you and the others like to watch.
That's a fun post! You ahve some good favorites! I don't think I could come up with my favorites like that. I always forget it's my favorite until I see it somewhere.

Pretty Woman
There are many more and probably my absolute favorites but I can't remember them now.

The NOTEBOOK... :)))
I have many of the movies you listed and have seen many of the others.
I love old Cary Grant films. One of my favorites was My Favorite Wife with Irene Dunne. They remade it as Move Over Darling with Doris Day and James Garner, but it wasn't as good as the original.
And, old Katherine Hepburn films too.
Oooo I love Labyrinth and Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe too.
I also love Rear Window (1954), Penelope, French Kiss, Up, Dirty Dancing, and Practical Magic.
I really liked the ...Marigold Hotel, The King's Speech, several Barbra Streisand movies, The Dead Poets' Society...several others. I'm not very good at remembering titles.
wow, I can't imagine the experience of seeing Van Gogh's art like that. He is my favorite painter of all time .
You have some fine selections on the list. Best in Show never fails to crack me up. Another must-watch is The Princess Bride.
Hi Terra! Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment at my Nostalgic Sunday post! I thought for sure I was one of your followers, but I checked and didn't see your name in my list, so I just signed on! I have a ton of favorite movies....they're listed in my Complete Profile. Have a great week!
Oh yes, Christmas Story is one of my favorites. We watch it every year.
A couple of my favorites are:
Gone with the Wind
Groundhog Day
Second Hand Lions
I'm not so much for movies, but I love "Life of Pi", "Water for Elephants" "The Kite Runner", and "The Notebook".
Just to name a few, oh and "Memoirs of a Geisha".
Hus,
Patti
This is fun, and I think you can tell a lot about a person from the movies they like. I like some of the ones on your list. When I started thinking about it, my very favorites are basically love stories and musicals (or love story musicals). Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is my all time favorite movie. There are about five Doris Day movies that tie for second. The only contemporary movie that makes my list is You've Got Mail.
That is a hard one, I love lots of different movies, love all the Harry Potter movies, The lion, the witch and the wardrobe, I like Iron Man, and many more.
Good list
Eclectic and intelligent
Several of your favorites are mine, too.
hmmm...I can see blogging fodder here for another post. lol

Such interesting lists.
Sabrina, Sleepless in Seattle. I must be a bit of a romantic.
Gone with the Wind, and I'm a Star Wars fan.
The Party, with Peter Sellers
The King and I with Yul Brenner and Deborah Kerr
Gone with the Wind
Auntie Mame, with Rosalind Russell
Enchanted April
I like old movies!
I like the ones I have seen and your list reminds me I must get the DVDs and watch some more movies, like Silver Lining Playbook, a film I really want to see. Thanks for stopping by. It's always good to see you.
I think my favourite movies are
sentimental favourites like "It's a Wonderful Life" and "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn". I was happy to see that the latter movie has played more recently on television after not having seen it for years.
I also like the Lord of the Rings series and "The Hobbit", the Star Trek series, Spiderman series, and classics like "Pride & Prejudice", "Emma". "The Chronicles of Narnia" and newer classics like "You Got Mail".
I'm sure I've missed many but I tend to like space stories or the classic black and whites movies or classics of the greats.
Great list, Terra.
My favourites:
Forrest Gump
It's a Wonderful Life
I am a big time movie buff who seldom misses any. Will try to list down a few.
Inception
The King's Speech
127 Hours
There's Something About Mary
You've Got Mail

The Terminal
The Green Mile
Kung-Fu Panda (both parts)

I like your movie list. I would probably say...
Sense & Sensibility
Pride & Prejudice
White Christmas
The Bishop's Wife
The Philadelphia Story
Oh, I love "Christmas Story", Terra. It's a classic and we watch it every Christmas. Those were the good 'ole days, right? I also heard Midnight In Paris was a good one.
Have a happy week.
Love,
~Sheri
Out of your list, I think I have only seen 2' Casablanca and the Passion, both of which I enjoyed. One of my very old favorite movies is " Imitation of Life". It makes me cry every time I see it...Christine
I just had to stop again, because after reading all the favorites listed by your readers, I wanted to share some of mine, too. Lots of them are mentioned by the wonderful ladies here!
Polar Express
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
The Bishop's Wife
White Christmas
It's a Wonderful Life
*Almost all Doris Day movies!*
The Philadelphia Story...plus the musical remake of it: High Society
Forrest Gump
Mame (the musical, with Lucille Ball!)
While You Were Sleeping
Groundhog Day
Rear Window
Pollyanna
I REALLY do love all of these, and it's so fun to know that I'm not the only one!!
I've seen six of the most obvious of your films and heard of a few more but what prompted the comment was the apparent incongruity of the inclusion of Zombieland which sounds completely at odds with the rest of the list: or am I wrong?
What fun! I'll write some of these down! We love Pride and Prejudice....the old movie with Greer Garson. Love Leap Year and Enchanted, Miss Potter and New in Town! Sweet hugs!
