My new and old Christmas wreaths and a poem written in the 1600s

Here are two photos of my new Christmas wreath and a lovely poem included in the book I wrote, Scrapbook of Christmas Firsts: Stories to Warm Your Heart and Tips to Simplify Your Holiday.

Come thou bright and morning star, Light of light without beginning!

Shine upon us from afar that we may be kept from sinning.

Drive away by thy clear light our dark night.

Let thy grace, like morning dew Falling soft on barren places,

Comfort, quicken and renew our dry souls and dying graces;

Bless thy flock from thy rich store

Evermore.

Poem written by Christian K. Rosenroth (1636-1689) and translated by Richard Massie (1800-1887)

Below is my old jingle bell wreath with a new purpose in life, recycling at its finest. My younger son, Lane, put it on the front of his vehicle today and added red tinsel rope I wasn't using. He says it will jingle as he drives, which is a festive sound. Lane said we need Christmas more than ever this year, and I agree. Sunday's message in church was about joy and love as we follow the Bible's message. Merry Christmas friends.

Beautiful wreaths - both! And lovely poem.
We DO need Christmas more than ever this year... the heartfelt part, not the gatherings.

Beautiful! Both your wreath and that poem. "Light of light without beginning" indeed!
Chortling at the truck's decor. Were I to glimpse that along my route, for sure it would make me smile.

That's a nice poem. And a great use for your old wreath. We surely do need more bright and happy things this year.
Right now heavy snow is falling. This area of BC often escapes with very little snow so this is going to make all the kids happy. Drivers...not so much.

Thanks for sharing the poem. And your son is so right, we do need Christmas more than ever this year. I was sort of wondering why I made such a fuss about it being just right, since I live here alone with my dogs. No one will come to visit, but I still want it to be lovely. We all need a really good and spiritual Christmas this year. More than ever.

Merry Christmas to you, dear Terra, it has been fun to get to know you a bit better this year. Sending hugs and good wishes.

The Christmas-wreath looks so beautiful in day and night!

Your son is right. WE NEED CHRISTMAS VERY MUCH!

Funny idea with the ringing decoration on the car :)))

The poem says all I feel in my heart, when I think about the coming of our Lord - - - -

Have a blessed Christmas, dear Terra!

Your new wreath is absolutely stunning! And how clever, putting the other on the truck. It will be the happiest truck in town!

That is a beautiful poem and I really like both wreaths. A brilliant way to recycle. I can almost hear your old one jingling as he goes down the road.
Blessings,

Wreaths are the best of the decorations, I think!

The new wreath looks wonderful, but I'm sending special kudos to your son for his rather brilliant idea of turning his vehicle into a Christmas sleigh. Well done.

Thanks for stopping by, a pleasant surprise. Yes your son is so right, we do need Christmas more then ever....Jesus is the reason for Christmas....we need HIM more then ever also. I finally bought a wreath this year for my birthday....wreaths always make the day and beautify the front door. Have a wonderful Christmas and hoping your New Year is blessed.
