Bounce, Fluffy, movie Edie, Melaleuca tree

Fluffy Kitty and Mr. Bounce taking a nap together on Bounce's favorite sofa spot.
Above is before I woke them and called to them so they would look at me. What is going on around your house in these days of Covid-19? Yesterday my book club met on Zoom, eleven of us, and we each reviewed one book, so I got some reading ideas. I shared The Warden by Anthony Trollope, I do love that book! I enjoyed all 27 of Trollope's novels that I have read thus far, out of the 47 he wrote, bless his heart. He wrote in the 1850s through the 1880s.
Above are my son Lane and Bounce enjoying the shade under the canvas awning Lane bought and put up for me.
I am standing in the kitchen when I took this photo of our new canvas awning on our back patio.
This is me under the awning, I am rather dark in the shade.
Melaleuca quinquenervia tree in my neighborhood, AKA broad-leaved paperbark. I learned that it is an invasive problem tree in the Florida Everglades and an important tree for wildlife in its native Australia. It is pretty with its soft white cloud like flowers.
Above is a close up of the Melaleuca flowers, a bit blurry, but you can see the flowers are attractive.

I watched a good movie today titled Edie. The main characters are Edie, a spry 84 year old widow, a young man she meets named Jonny, and the wild hills of Scotland.  Edie is played by Sheila Hancock and Jonny is played by the handsome Kevin Guthrie. Guthrie is in the new TV series, An English Game,  which I aim to watch. After short opening filming in London, where her daughter has Edie set to enter assisted living, all the filming is done in Lochinver, Scotland. Edie attempts to fulfill her long ago dream of hiking up Mt. Suilven. I recommend this movie. What beautiful scenery in the hills of Scotland and a story that is meaningful to me, about aging, looking back on life, and going ahead to try an adventure.

That sounds like a good movie for me as I just entered my 80th year, or is it 81st once the birthday is past? Anyhow, it's good to hear from you and I once had a fluffy gray cat, named Sindbad. We were sailing a lot at the time, so Sindbad seemed appropriate.

The awning is perfect. I need one on our deck these days. That tree is quite something! Gorgeous.

Oh Inger, how fun to hear your fluffy gray cat named Sindbad sailed with you. Years ago we took our cat, Gypsy, sailing with us.

Sweet animals! They are trusting friends.

Nice awning -

The tree is really a miracle -

I looked the trailer of "Edie". I think it is a beautiful film!

Love your awning. We need something like that on our decks, but the wind seems to blow things too much. We have umbrellas, but have to constantly put them up and down depending on the wind. I miss my real porch roof. Saving up to get one eventually. That movie sounds good. I might look for that. That tree is interesting. I've never heard of it. Very pretty. Your furry friends are really sweet. I know they are good company! What a blessing.

Fluffy Kitty looks just like our daughter's cat Mila (who my daughter says is her old dog, Sarge, reincarnated since she showed up on their doorstep not long after Sarge passed and is completely attached to my daughter just like Sarge was). Sarge used to lay near my son during our regular Yahtzee games, and when son needed a Yahtzee, he would have Sarge 'blow' on the dice, and almost always get a Yahtzee. A few weeks ago, son (who hasn't won a game since Sarge passed) was desperate and decided to see if Mila could blow on the dice...and would you believe he rolled a Yahtzee immediately afterward? We were all a little gobsmacked. :)

I love the picture of Fluffy and Bounce! How sweet of your son to bring out and install that awning. It looks like it will extend the amount of time you are able to sit outside. I have never seen a tree like that but it is beautiful. Take care and enjoy Fluffy and Bounce!

Don't you love it when an author you really enjoy has written a LOT of books? I think if you can find all of Trollope's books you will have reading material for a good while.
Nice new awning!

What would we do without our pets? That tree is something else.

Oh they are ever so sweet those two creatures together, it's not often I see that.
The Melaleuca, what a show it's putting on wonderful to see.
Like your new sail cloth to give you shade, it's amazing how well they shield us.
Take care.

How nice of your son to put up the canvas awning. I rarely sit outside any more because my deck is in full sun and not very enjoyable.
That tree is pretty

Hi Terra - the get together sounds and looks wonderful - your home doing you justice. While Edie is very British looking and sounds an emotional, appropriate read ... also film. Take care - Hilary

Aw, I can never get enough of seeing Bounce! Those white blossoms are so pretty ... they make me think of fallen snow. Love the canopy ... that's a really thoughtful gesture of your son. I'm going to show this to Tom and see if he wouldn't do something similar out our back door.

What a nice back yard. We saw that movie advertised but haven't seen it yet. We are watching a lot of Missionary movies, Christian movies, horse and dog movies. Everything on regular TV doesn't seem worthy to watch.

The movie sounds good! Nice of your son to put up that lovely summer awning for you.

Your awning is perfect, sometimes we need to get out of those rays! I love that your bookclub is soldiering on. I've been plowing through the books for so long now, I need to do round up in my next post.

Hello Terra! SO HAPPY to meet you! Thank you for your kind words on my blog today :) I love your new awning, what a sweet son you have to put it up for you, and spend some special moments with Bounce too! (love your animals, so precious!) I have never seen a melaleuca tree before! Wow! They are beautiful, but I can imagine outside its native environment that it can be invasive. I enjoyed my visit with you today, many blessings from Idaho :)

Thank you so much for your great comment on my blog. Happy with it. I love the Melaleuca quinquenervia tree on one of your pics. I never heard of this tree before :-)

The awning is great! Here we're still meeting loved ones outside usually in one another's gardens. An awning would be useful not for the sunshine but for rainy conditions! Have a good day!

Ah yes, I heard about that film some time ago. I'd like to watch that. That awning looks as if it provides some welcome shade for you.

Dear Terra, Thank you for stopping by my blog today! I loved seeing you fur babies and your patio with the new awning; how thoughtful of your son. Loved seeing you in the photos too. I wanted to ask you if you found Edie on Netflix or Amazon or ? Since we don’t have a satellite dish for the trailer, we take movies and this one sounds great. Hope you are staying well.

Hi Terra. I hope you get this. Can you send an email to my email address?

Your email is not under your name on my computer so I cannot find it. Thanks so much. I remember when your husband died. I know how sad you were and I was sad along with you.

Thanks so much. Sincerely, Susan
