What I Won't Miss

This is the companion piece to my previous post. I got the idea from Nora Ephron's book of essays titled "I Remember Nothing." Nora and I share two things on our lists, Illness and Funerals.
What I Won't Miss
Root canals.  I had one today.
Senior moments.
Impossible to open packaging. When it says "tear here" I often can't.
Tears.
Grief.
Being called "a deplorable" by a certain politician.
Paying taxes.
Teeny tiny print.
Illness.
Funerals.
Household chores.
Paying bills.
Many of the above are boring repetitive chores. Wash dishes and they will soon need to be washed again, that sort of thing.
Seeing suffering.
Waiting in lines.
This list is kind of a downer ! In heaven I won't be missing anything, but in this life it would be sweet if these things didn't occur.
For a more upbeat post, read my previous post on "Things I Will Miss".

My list would be pretty similar Terra! I am so scared of dentists that I just don't go! Cheers from Carole's Chatter

I think this is pretty upbeat! We won't have to deal with these things in heaven. :)

Love this, Terra! It really gives us something to chew on. I feel much the same in a lot of ways with your list. I don't know if it's just me, I often feel a huge lump in my throat that I will miss all of those wonderful moments with my kids and grandchildren. All the milestones and good times. Being there for them to have a shoulder to cry on. So it's hard to think of what I won't miss. Maybe I should make a list and stop feeling sorry for myself. ;-D

All true for me too!

I read that book some years ago. Nora Ephron was a treasure. I don’t think about eternity or if there is such a thing, but I try to enjoy the beauty of this world and pass the days doing the mundane things that are called life. I could certainly do without pain, both physical and mental, but without it, would I appreciate joy.

I agree with everything on your list...
You bravely got your root canal... atta girl!
Doesnt it seem like the print keeps getting smaller and smaller..?

Hi Terra - I'm sure I'd feel the same ... but I tend to avoid writing about the horrors of life as we get older - I just deal (or not) with it ... and enjoy the positives - but quite understand ... cheers Hilary

Apart from the root canals and bad packaging, all the rest seem to me to be part of being alive. Not that I'm thrilled with them, but they're just part of life.

Politicians and politics. Mean people. Dirty snow/ice. Drama. That's my list. :)

Well I sure won't miss root canals either. I've had my share of them. I pretty much agree with everything else in your list too. Oh and tiny print! Me too! :) I did go back and read your other list.

Good list...so agree about the polititions. Most of the things we will not miss, are on the flipside opportunities to experience God grace...with I would remember that when I'm cleaning a toilet...haha

Hi Terra~

I like your list, those are all things I won't miss either! So sorry about your root canal, yikes! There are so many wonderful things in the world that I will miss, but so many that I won't!! I need to read that book!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Hugs and Love,
Barb

I won't miss DUST! I hate DUST. It seems as though dust is out to get me everywhere I turn in my house. I'll say to myself, "didn't I just dust that place a day ago?" And there it is, right back again!! The Bible says from dust you were formed and to dust you shall return...but thank God, when I leave this world, I will leave that DUST behind! NO dust in heaven!! Just beautiful new bodies that will never turn to dust again!!! Praise God!!!

Without the ups and downs and the mundane chores life would be pretty hard to fill up don't you think. Although...I wouldn't mind 'not missing' doing the dishes lol.

Yes, all of these things will not be missed! However, they are a reminder that THIS is not paradise and the best is yet to come!

I am with Lauren on this one. This is life here on earth, some thing we something we don't. I will not miss sin or the old nature, and this frail body that just getting more frail. But with gladness I will wait till God has my house ready for me and continue to witness to His love. This was a different post but one that made one think. Thanks.

Hello, I so enjoyed reading your list! It is so true to think of all the things we will miss yet there are so many things we will be glad to not have to endure.
