Sunflowers in September
Sunflowers in September are bold sentinels of the last of the summer days.
My neighbor plants these sunny plants every year.
I like the cheerful new school sign next to the sunflowers.
Does the above photo show the sense of wind moving them? It was tricky to take these photos as the sunflowers were moving this way and that. They were being whipped around by the breeze from the ocean and yet standing firm, just like we sometimes need to do in life's storms.

I love sunflowers! They are my very most favorite flower followed by honeysuckle and then roses. Sunflowers always look so happy to me! They make me smile!

I love sunflowers. I just got a 'new' hand towel at the thrift store with a single sunflower on it. I think they are so cheerful! Love the way the wind blows these tall flowers. Hugs, Diane
Love the sunflowers. I've got them all over my yard. I planted a bunch of seeds every week and they've been blooming all summer. The latest ones just now are blooming.
The birds plant the seeds around too. : )
I love sunflowers. A neighbor at the lake has them growing by her roadside mailbox. I wonder if they need to be staked. I may try the short version next spring.
I wanted to get back to you. I found my post from 9/20/14, where I wrote about a book called A Year By the Sea, by Joan Anderson. I found it uplifting and also insanely challenging as far as a woman on her own. I'm sure you can find this on Amazon.
If you go through my archives, you can read my thoughts. I plan to do a post on all of those misgivings and how everything seems to have changed over the past few months. I know your life has changed as well.

I used to grow sunflowers every summer in Minnesota, tall ones like the beauties in your photos. The chickadees would hang on them and eat the seeds before they were even dry. I miss their cheerful faces and the way they turn toward the sun.
