Lobelia and Rudbeckia

Lobelia and Rudbeckia
Originally uploaded by pchgorman

I love the various shades of blue in lobelias, the robin's egg blue, the deep sky blue and the midnight blue too.
I often buy a six pack of lobelias to tuck in to containers with other flowers. They grow about 3 inches tall and flow down over the sides in a graceful manner.
Trailing varieties can flow downward up to 18 inches.
You can also find white, pink and lavendar lobelia. A favorite edging variety is Cambridge Blue and for trailing Cascade Mixed.
Lobelia are "half hardy" to 32 degrees (zone 10) and I think of them as an annual.
They spark up containers of mixed flowers like pansies, violets, godetias and nasturtiums.
Do you have some container plants to recommend?

Those colors are stunning next to each other!

I have really enjoyed some of the new variety of coleus mixed in containers the past couple of years!

Good Morning Terra Sweetie...
Oh what a beautiful share. I love this blue coloring, simply elegant and gorgeous. Does it ever pop with that beautiful yellow. I so enjoyed my little stroll in your gardens this morning.

Have a beautiful Sunday sweetie. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

I honestly do better looking at flowers then planting them.

I like the color - robin's egg blue.

Beautiful! I still have no garden due to the weather! Lovely green weeds though! SO much rain it is too soggy to do anything! Enjoy the week! Anne

I like to put a geranium or two in my BIG pots... they grow well and give a lot of colour and life to the whole thing.
"Million bells"..not sure of the proper name..... ah....I love those...and there are several different colours... last year I had a lovely peachy colour in my blue pots.... they looked wonderful.

And I discovered a cute plant...called Limelight.... it was as suggested by its name, a lovely lime colour... profuse and great ground cover as well adding a whole new dimension to my pots...

Hi All. Bumblevee, I discovered Million Bells 2 years ago and they are gorgeous, I agree. I have grown the peach colored too. I like any flower that has Bell in its name or looks bell-like. Someday I would like to find the Balloon flower, which my mom grew.

Hi-- Wanted to thank you for joining the fun at Dreaming.
Come by again soon. It's great to meet new friends.

I grow all of my pretties in containers to our clay soil.
Our garden does well but most flowers don't.

Have a great Friday!

I like juxtaposition in poetry and in flower beds too :) Colors and thoughts we were once told would clash can pop things in the garden and in a poem, making something blah really come to life.
