The cement ship and beach area

My husband and I enjoyed a walk along the beach where a cement ship is "anchored" at the end of a pier. Long ago the ship had dining and dancing and gambling on it, later that ended and people could walk on the ship and fish. Now as the ship is aging and a danger to walk on, it is blocked off but you can still walk along the pier.

At the end of the walk we stopped for coffee at the cute coffee spot, shown here. Look closely at the photo of the coffee shop, and you will see a bowl of fresh water set out for dogs, and a cute painting of a dog above the bowl.

That is so cool. We should have visited that when our son was going to UC Santa Cruz.

What a nice place to walk...so close to the water. It's a shame the ship was let to go. I bet the restaurant was a lot of fun!! The coffee shop has a very nice view though. It's always nice to end up in a nice, cozy little place after a brisk walk!!

Happy Thursday, Terra!

The Beach Bean looks like a WONDERFUL place to stop after a walk. I am especially envious of the fact that you can walk on the beach in March without freezing! Winter is refusing to leave as we're down in the 30's again, here in New England. Can I come visit? haha Love the dog and dog bowl!... Donna

I'm watching the weather channel and California is being pummelled by rain and wind. Ouch! All in all, rain is good, and snow is needed to create a water base for summer months, so we should be happy at this point.

Thanks for your visit.

Looks like you had a lovely walk and a welcome coffee break at the end of it. There is nothing so nice as walking by the seaside is there! I loved the dog bowl with the cute dog behind it. Shame about the ship not being safe anymore. I'm sure it was a favourite place to go beforehand.

Loved the pix of the " Cement Boat" It was originally called the Palo Alto and was anchored to the bay in 1930. A big storm damaged the hull in 1932. When I was a kid we used to walk out to the end and yell down through the openings trying to scare away any sea demons. Sparkles
