Dark Chocolate, Berries and Nuts

I buy assorted nuts in the shell at Whole Foods for my husband and I. We also like shelled raw almonds and salted nuts in cans and we usually have nuts instead of sweets for a snack.

Prevention Magazine wrote about how Dove dark chocolate is healthy, so that is on my list too, one or two of those little squares. I have read that dark chocolate, red wine and coffee all have health benefits, but do your own research on this!

Cottage cheese with chives (or pineapple) has calcium and tastes delish.

Oh, and I love berries in addition to strawberries, like raspberries, blackberries and blueberries, and grow blackberries and blueberries so I know they are pesticide free. Our blackberry patch is so large that we let the birds eat most of the berries. We enjoy when the berries have their white flowers and are visited by bees, who hum as they work and when the berries are ready we like to go out in the morning and pick berries to have with cereal.

Because all berries are so packed with health benefits I go ahead and buy them, even if they are a little pricey. I buy raspberries and eat them right out of the container.

Popcorn with our air popped popcorn maker is a fun and healthy snack, lacks the weird chemicals of many of the microwaved popcorns, and its cost is very low.

What are your favorite healthy and delicious foods?

Dark chocolate, coffee, and red wine. It doesn't get much better than this.... Even if they aren't as good for you as they claim I would never give them up, because they are wonderful for my psychological well-being.
Berries and Nuts are Nectar of the Gods and go right along with the Chocolate/Coffee/Wine lifestyle.
You Go GIRL....Life's short.

Raspberries are my all-time favourite food. Blueberries & pineapple & mushrooms are pretty close to the top too :)

Okay - now I love all those things - especially the chocolate, but reading this at 11pm makes me hungry!

My hubby and I are quite addicted to dark chocolate. Hubby has hypertension and the doctor recommended he eat more of it and it is such a rich food we only have to eat one or two pieces and we feel quite indulged!

Take care and best wishes for a wonderful week!

You had me at "dark chocolate". Summer berries are a bonus.

Thank you, for sharing chocolate and summer!

Happy Sunday.

I'm right there behind you on this one, starting with berries, followed by nuts, and topping it all with dark, luscious Dove chocolate.
If there is a cup of dark brew in my hand I have already reached seventh heaven.

Yes I like all those things. Into my basket on Friday went raspberries (we have a glut in England this summer), strawberries, blueberries. I also bought some walnuts, which I love. We love all nuts but my daughter-in-law is allergic to peanuts and peanut oil so she has to be VERY careful what she eats especially when eating out or buying ready made foods. It remains to be seen if my little grandson Dylan (9 months old) is allergic like his mum! I sincerely hope not.
I am a fan of Cadbury's chocolate. I must admit that American chocolate is not to my taste so I avoid it. Have you tried the dark chocolate Bounty that sells well over here? I know it is available in U.S. but you may have to search for it.
How interesting that you are reading about the ships at the beginning of the 1800's, just when I'm posting on that era. Watch for my next post, which will include a nice little video for you to enjoy.

Always trying to eat healthier! I love Dove chocolate but not suppose to have any due to the high soy additives! Drat! But occasionally I indulge! Love the milk chocolate too!

Sounds like all the foods that I like...but I need to change mine a little bit to the more healthy version. For example, I need to change....milk chocolate, movie theater butter popcorn, too salty nuts. It would be nice to be able to go outside and pick berries in the morning for cereal. :)Enjoyed your post.

Numm Numm for the tum tum- we love apples with chedder cheese, blackberries and yogurt and chilled wine. The kitties like salmon, catnip and fresh water. What healthful drink do you prefer? Tres Bien, Au Revoir, Sparkles and her side kick Tankene Ice Mist.

Hello!
Stopped in to see how your garden is coming along! Mine is in full bloom for now, taking a beating from the heat. We are berry lovers around here too. I'm going raspberry picking tomorrow, can't wait!

Hope you are having a great summer!

I am going to be adding the Dove to my list as well now. I think my favorite snack has got to be almonds and pistachios.
I love to buy berries as snacks too. I used to think, wow, that is expensive, but when you think of what most junk food costs and the long term affects, it's a small price really.

I love almost all of those things that you mentioned. I think I would include apples and mushrooms on the list too. All kinds of berries and nuts rank high for me too. :)

Gotta love the fact that dark chocolate is considered healthy! My only problem would be limiting myself to just two squares of it! :-9
