Sunflowers and Is it crazy to garden in the rain?

Sunflowers and poetry

I want to confess since they say tis good for the soul. Yesterday we had unexpected steady rain here, and I simply needed/wanted to get out and cut back ivy that was growing into our flower beds.
So I put on my rainproof hooded Goretex jacket and trimmed ivy in the rain. It was in our back yard, so no one could see me which is probably for the best.
I don't have a photo of me gardening in the rain so found this pretty photo on Flickr to share.
Have any of you put on rain gear and gardened in the rain? I like to think it is not crazy but just passionate dedication. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

It is so hard for me to imagine putting on a jacket because of the rain..A- we are in a drought...I would dance in the rain...lol and B- it is sooo warm here you don't need a jacket.I wished you had taken a picture....lol

I love sunflowers too! Here I am, as promised, and I am now following you from over here in England. (If you don't mind, of course!!). I wish we had a photo of you gardening in the rain! I have never done that, but I do have a large garden and thoroughly enjoy it.

No gardening in the rain down here in s.e. FL, you might get struck by lightening.

That is a wonderful sunflower picture.

My sunflowers have also survived the blazing sun, now I don 't know how they are doing in the monsoon

I applaud your passion for gardening! I've never donned a rainjacket to work in the garden but I never say never either. :)

Isn't it lovely to garden in a soft downpour? We do it all the time here in the Northwest.

I haven't gardened in the rain, but we haven't had much rain this year! I've actually watered the garden more than we've had rain. Your sunflowers are beautiful - I didn't plant any, but a blogging friend is sending me some of her seeds, so I'll be trying those out.

I actually prefer gardening
in the rain to bright sunshine.
Great for the spirit and it smells
heavenly!!! Thank you for your
recent sweet comment on P&H.
Hope you are having a great
holiday weekend!

is it crazy to mow in the rain too? I was almost finished mowing the lawn last week and it began pelting down....I figured ..what the heck... better just finish off. Some neighbours were checking out who was mowing in the rain from behind their curtains... and I admit I did sprint a bit faster when the thunder and lightening began....
