My new dog companion Bounce

My sons and I visited five times to three places to pick out an ideal dog companion for me, and we found him. In the shelter he bounced up and down, meaning "pick me, pick me." He still does that.
Above is a Christmas time photo of us, and below Bounce in a favorite spot, looking outside.

At the animal shelter they pulled two of his teeth and neutered him. He is a Chihuahua Terrier mix and was found as a stray and weighed only 7.8 pounds. After a month at my house he weighs 10.4 pounds which the veterinarian says is the ideal weight for him. She said he must have been skin and bones when they picked him up. He looks a lot like my childhood dog, Chili Rey of Martini, a Chihuahua.
He is very Bouncy now and deserving of his name. I love this little guy and so do my sons and he loves us right back. My cat is fine with him, thank goodness.

  22. What a charming looking dog you picked, and what a charming looking mum he found in you! I am soo glad that you can find some comfort in that little dog, it's not easy to reach out of darkness and sorrow, but a dog can certainly help!! My only wish now is that you will find next year a good one, slowly returning to joy and purpose of the day! You and your family will mend and be able to laugh and live again, when I see you in this picture I feel confident about that.
Happy New Year and God bless you, Terra!!
    Love from Solveig in Sweden!

  23. Congratulations to you both for finding just the right place to be. He is adorable. Now I won't feel so badly watching those soooo sad Humane Society commercials for I know at least one sweet dog has found a perfect home. Hope this happy story and photo inspires more people to adopt.

  29. Hello Terra. Thank you so much for popping over to mine and leaving your funny comment. I hope your new little dog will bring you some comfort in what must be an awfully dark time for you (I've just read about your darling husband, so tragic when they're taken so suddenly, as happend with my Father). Little consolation I know, but Happy New Year to you from Scotland and thanks again for taking the time to 'visit' me.

  31. So happy you have a furry companion! If I didn't have my girls (2 dogs and 2 cats) I would be very lonely indeed but as it is they add so much joy to my life and laughter and I could go on and on! Bounce is a cutie and I believe our animals pick us....we don't pick them....so wonderful how that all works! Congratulations on your new best friend!
