I planted seeds yesterday, from Seeds of Change, which are Snow Pea, Sugar Pod Two.
They are a bush type so don't need a trellis or staking.
It takes 60 to 70 days to maturity from planting. I mostly eat them without cooking, plain or added to salads. If you are cooking stir fry, they are perfect for that dish, and need just a few minutes cooking time so they are still crisp, and not wilted.
We gardeners love to anticipate, don't we?
I don't think I have had them but I have seen them and will try them.
ReplyDeleteI eat snap peas all the time.
MMMM. Eating snow peas is just like eating candy from the garden. I am wishing for a garden right now.
ReplyDeleteI love snow peas Terra but have never grown them. I love them in a stirfry and just from the frig too.
ReplyDeletehugs from here...
These bring back memories, I used to eat them in Chinese dishes all the time. Very good!
ReplyDeletewe get this in the cool season
ReplyDeleteMmmmm - we LOVE snow peas. Most of the time they don't even make it into the house!

ReplyDeleteLove them! I carry them around as quick snacks.

I just planted a teensy little barberry...and am anticipating big things... Greg laughed at me wanting some big shovelfuls of nice soil for my little guy...and brought around a wheelbarrow full of dirt with 'him' perched on top ... when he saw the hole I had ..he said he could fill it with all the dirt ..I could scrape back about 3 inches and that would be all I need for my new little bush.... ...hmmpf.... that little guy will show him! Soon he'll be 4 feet tall....just like my others in the front yard that once were tiny ...
ReplyDeleteThey are the best, Terra. Thanks for reminding me we have them in the garden to pick! Got to go! xxoo Nancy
ReplyDeleteI do like snow peas.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit and comment much appreciated. I am not sure why I have not tried growing peas, everyone in France grows beans so I seem to follow the trend. I must see if I can find some seed. Hope to see you back I am now following you. Diane
ReplyDeleteI usually stir fry them. I do not grow veggies sadly but am glad you do:}
ReplyDeleteI am not a big fan, so I don't grow these. Of course, if we grow it, we eat it, so if I grew them, I would have to become a fan! :) Enjoy yours!
ReplyDeleteI love these in stir fry meals - could only be better if you grew them yourself! I just 'googled' seeds of change and bookmarked it - thank you for sharing your source, Terra!
ReplyDeleteHubby tells me that someday we will build a greenhouse and then I can grow some veggies - so yes, we gardeners love to anticipate. :)
Have a lovely day,
Zuzu
Sorry to say, I have not planted anything yet. Last year I had green beans and tomatoes. The green beans were eaten by the deer, and the tomatoes never grew. We have a lot of clay and rock where we live...sigh.
ReplyDeleteBut I love snow peas!
They are wonderful! When I lived in NM, we grew them in the garden and I ate them...in the garden! heehee!
ReplyDeleteI love Sugar Snap Peas, but I'm sure your peas will be delicious. Hope your crop grows and flourishes. Glad to have you as a "follower". Mickie ;)
ReplyDeleteI just love picking a salad from the garden!
