Nasturtium in salad

To me the nasturtium flower tastes like a peppy yet mild radish, an ideal radish.
We are having steak on the grill tonight cooked by my dh, rustic baguette with a bit of olive bruschetta, and a favorite salad of mine. The salad has cucumbers, tomato, fresh basil from the garden and nasturtium flowers. They look pretty too!
Dressing at our house is olive oil, red wine vinegar and splashes of Trader Joe's seasoned rice vinegar.
It is so tasty and pretty to add nasturtiums to salads that I am inspired to buy a pack of seeds tomorrow, so we will soon have even more pretty flowers.

  2. I use them like decorations for dishes, but my boys eat nasturtium leaves just like that. Next time, I add them to my salad. Thank you!!!

  3. Dear Terra, Absolutely delicious. I am sure that your salad will taste even better, should that be possible, than it looks. And, of course, the Nasturtium seeds become capers which I adore.

  5. Hi Terra, My mother used to grow Nasturtiums--but we never ate them... I've never heard of that. They do look pretty in a salad though.

Your dinner sounds wonderful... Love your dressing choices.
    Hugs,

  7. There is a little old fashioned lunch place, which we love to visit. They use eatable flowers there. Charming!

  9. Nasturium makes such pretty salad, indeed. Too bad I don't like the taste like everybody else... Maybe it's my specific variety?

  10. What time will your next dinner be ready? If you have meals like this one each day, I would die for them. I do not cook much anymore, but sure enjoy what others prepare. Thank you for visiting and your comment.

  12. Wonderful! Nasturtium is so unappreciated; yet, it is edible, grows like a weed anywhere, sits pretty for months, and self-seeds.

    What a trouper.

  14. Hi Terra!

Thanks for your comment on my blog! I planted nasturtiums this year with my tomatoes as they are great for repelling bugs as well as eating! I am waiting for the flowers!

    Your salad is so pretty.
