I bought this rose bush long ago at a university plant sale, and don't recall its name, but it flourishes in very little sun. Hurray. At her feet are primroses and a prostrate rosemary.
There are 100 plants with Mary stories, including roses, primroses, rosemary, marigold, calendula, forget me not, snowdrop, carnation, clematis and so many more.
I love to see Mary at the back of the garden, with some sunlight shining on her, and when I see her statue she inspires me to pray in my garden.
Do any of you have a Mary garden?
Very pretty, no I do not have any Marys in my garden. I used to have about 15 or more antique chalkware Madonnas and Jesus , statues and plaques, in my home about 15 years ago or so. I have since sold them ( I sell antiques too ). Thanks so much for the post ! Gina

ReplyDeleteBeautiful roses. No I don't have a Madonna statue. I have bunnies and a turtle in stone. I never knew there were so many flowers connected to her in stories. Blogging is a great sorce for learning new things :)

ReplyDeleteMy Mary is also surrounded with primroses, hyacinths & other spring flowers but the columbine literally dwarfed her this year & we just moved her to the side a bit ... so I could see & enjoy her.

ReplyDeleteSometimes I think "Mary in the flowers, Buddha in the vegetables" and it sounds like the opening line of a poem.

ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. I have a Mary's Garden in my yard and also have helped take care of one at St. Mary's Church in our town. We tried to plant flowers associated with Mary. My garden at home is relatively new and the plants, for the most part, were already there. I have just added a few from time to time. Now, everything is so lush and overgrown....they need dividing.
