My kitty, chair made new, Mayan Jaguar lettuce and petunias

The sun was creating a glow around the fur on my cat, Fluffy. I can't figure out how to crop this photo and make the remaining closeup of the cat larger.

Above is the chair I spray painted this week, with special Krylon Fusion for Plastic paint for plastic. Below is the same chair before I painted it. The paint color I used is Blue Hyacinth.

I really do not want to throw out plastic chairs and mine have lasted for a decade with an occasional repainting.

Do you think veggies can be pretty? I had to buy this lettuce to plant when I saw the dramatic name "Mayan Jaguar Lettuce", plus the six plants look like a bouquet to me.

On the same visit to the garden center I bought these two petunias plus two alyssum to plant in a pot. Plus I added two more petunias to two hanging pots.

  4. A beautiful blue color on your chair. And, of course, kitty is adorable with the sun landing on the tips of his/her fur.

  6. What a pretty photo of your kitty and I'm impressed with the painted chair. That's a great job!
I want to get some hanging baskets but my goodness, they are expensive this year. The deer ate the geraniums I planted in a planter the very night I planted them. I replaced them with marigolds because I've been told that their smell chases the deer away. I have never, ever heard of that lettuce before. I learn new things all of the time. :-)
I hope you have a wonderful week.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  7. Odd looking lettuce to me just the leaves as haven't seen one like that until looking at your photo.
Petunias are so pretty they give such colour all summer.
You did a good job painting the chair.

  9. Haven't heard of that variety of lettuce but it does look very lovely and ornamental. I never seem to have much luck keeping pansies alive though lots of people use them for ground cover here during the winter months. I did see lots on my walk last week and wondered how they are still thriving in the heat we are currently having. Summer is at our doorstep now. Nice picture of your kitty and I LOVE the color of that chair. People here throw out so much for no reason at all. Spray paint certainly does wonders. Have a good week.

  10. Wow, that chair looks like brand new and I love the color. I have chairs that are really old and look horrible but they're still very sturdy chairs. I might have to get some of that paint.

  11. I have painted plastic chairs before I hated to throw them away also and it works pretty good.
I haven't started to buy new plants yet but very soon.

  18. Not only did I enjoy your post, but I also picked up helpful information without having to do a search. I am thinking that plastic paint you used will be just the ticket for painting plastic rain barrels in the same color family as the Remington Red of our home's entry door. Thanks!

  19. Your chair looks amazing. Isn't it wonderful the difference a coat of paint can make?

  23. Oh you’ve got me fired up! I need to get out and buy new plants to pot up containers and hanging baskets. Great paintwork too. I have kept back four plastic chairs because though they’re 30 yrs old they are so comfy. I tried painting them with ordinary paint last year. Mistake. Must look out for this specialized paint. Thanks for the heads up.
    Hugs x.

  24. Great idea just to keep repainting plastic chairs. You selected a neat color, too.

If you use iPhoto - go to Edit when you have the photo open. At the top will be Crop for you to resize the kitty photo.

  25. I've painted wooden items before, never plastic as I considered it cheap material not worth the work and the paint cost. Now, after seeing your blue painted chair, I might definitely change my mind. The chair looks beautiful.

  26. I have a few plastic chairs and must remember to do this as they fade. My problem is that they seem to chip and crack before they fade!

  27. What a difference in the chair! Ours seem to break before we get the chance to paint them.

And that coffee shop in the previous post looks lovely too.
