Pretty Lavender Chair

I did a project, me! I don't do many since I am busy in my garden, writing poems, etc.
I have two old white lawn chairs that were mottled with gray, so I was inspired by a fellow blogger.
Several years ago she wrote about Fusion Krylon spray paint for plastic chairs so I bought Lavender color and sprayed one of the chairs. If you are that blogger, let me know in a comment so I can give you credit. I think the color is Gum Drop, there is a little label on the can that says that; the can top shows the color.
Instead of mottled splochy grey and white it is now a pretty color.
This picture above doesn't show the full loveliness of the new color, but it gives the idea.
Here is a before and after with the unpainted chair on the left.

Sad old chair above with grey splotches.
Above is the pretty lavender chair that looks completely new. The spray paint covers beautifully.
I used almost one can of spray paint which cost about $7 and next I will buy the turquoise color and clean and spray the sad white and gray chair for a festive new look. I spray painted outdoors in the garden.
Our patio will look so festive you may want to come to visit.
PLEASE FRIENDS WEAR GOGGLES WHILE USING SPRAY PAINT!!!!
I accidentally sprayed toward my face on my first attempt and my glasses protected my eyes. No harm done, but I went to urgent care, my son drove me there. So from now on when I use spray paint I wear PROTECTIVE  GOGGLES. BE SAFE.
And beautify your lawn furniture!
Tete in her blog Beyond the Garden Gate is the gal who gave me the tip about the Fusion spray paint. Her blog has oodles of flower photos, lilacs today among others, so go over and say hi to her at http://tete-beyondthegardengate.blogspot.com/ if you like.

  1. These are gorgeous chairs even without the pain. I love the rose motif on the top. But, wow, you did a great job with the spray paint. They look brand new. Goggles--good idea!

  4. I posted last summer using this gum drop color and many others! We painted everything we could with all the pretty colors and even did a croquet set with them. Glad you spruced things up there! Sorry about the scare with your eyes! Even in the wind- you need wrap around glasses or goggles. They have a great handle with a trigger that you can attach to the top of the can and it is so much easier to use. They have them right next to the spray paint at Walmart!

  11. I think it looks happy and fabulous! I'm trying to step out of my box and paint some happy colors like that.

(And I can go one better to the eyes. I once stuck my head to close to the box I was painting the inside of and sprayed my nostrils.

    Yes... It was gross.
It was probably a drug of some sort too. That part wasn't so funny.

  15. Hey Mate, how great!!! I love the design of that chair, and you have re-vamped it with that lovely colour. Good on you!! Well done...It would have been a shame to leave them looking dingy. At ties we need to be spruced up also. xx

  17. The chair looks lovely and the color is so pretty.

I was running around yesterday spray pointing my metal plant stands and trellis. I sprayed the paint upward onto the trellis and a slight wind blew it back at me and left a film on my glasses. I did not feel any get into my eyes though. It is fun making old things look new again and recycling items that might have gone in a landfill.

  18. Very pretty....I have been wondering about how well plastics take paint. From the looks of your beautiful chair...works very well. I like the color...blessings

  27. Hi Terra! Thank you for the comment you left in my "sad mother's day" post. I really appreciate it, especially when I know that the words came from a great mother herself.

I love your chair makeover. Though I love white, I also love the refreshing lavender.

Hope you are having a great weekend!

    Happy Mother's Day!

  30. Great way to avoid putting more plastic into landfill/recycle! We had a bathroom stool we didn't need- white - and sprayed it dark green - now it's a lovely portable little stool for sitting anywhere in the garden!

  34. Hi Terra Sweetie...
Oh how lovely your chair looks reconditioned. The lilac color is so peaceful and pretty. I can't wait to see it combined with a turquoise colored one. I know the combination will be gorgeous.

So sorry to hear about the eyes and the spray paint. Thank God you were not hurt. It can be very dangerous. Hubby always keeps several pair in the garage by my canned spray paint as a reminder. Just like the latex gloves.

Thank you for sharing and thank you for stopping by and saying hi. I am so happy to be back and blogging again. I have missed you my friend. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

  38. I guess that could be my chair of honor! heehee! I love lavender...turquoise, too! What a nice job! I would love to paint our chairs!

  39. It is amazing the difference in your chairs. I have 3 grayed plastic chairs that I cover with slipcovers when we have a party. I might just try spray painting them.

  40. I have those same chairs. I loved them too. I say loved because I too sprayed them with something for plastic.. I think the same stuff.. and its peeling off after one season even tho we put them away for winter. :( I hope since you are in CA they will last longer then here where its more damp.

  41. What a wonderful facelift! I hope you snap a photo of all of them together when you are through.

I think it's a great idea to spray paint your chairs in different colors! The turquoise one will look lovely. I like the spring colors - very nice on the patio during the spring and summer months.
