Spider Mums

Mini bridesmaid bouquets

A week ago I bought us a bouquet of lime green spider mums and they still look pretty.
I grow mums but only the kind with small flowers.
The green spider mums were only five dollars at Whole Foods, and they usually find environmentally friendly sources.
No, Whole Foods doesn't know I'm writing this.
My other fav source for bouquets is Trader Joe's.
Do you treat yourself to flowers once in a while? I smile whenever I see them, in our kitchen.

  3. What a huge bloom and so very pretty. That is something I never do...buy flowers. But we usually have something blooming in the flower bed here year round. I need to plant more roses! Hugs!

  4. I love spider mums.
I used to treat myself to flowers, but we have a cat that wants to bite and paw at them. I end up putting them in another room where they are safe, which kind of defeats the purpose of having them!

  5. Yes, I do. We have a place around me that sells flowers and fruit at a discount price and I never walk out without a bouquet or two. It not only brightens my surroundings, but also my mood.

  6. I love flowers. I do sometimes buy flowers as a make-your-own-sunshine purchase. I love the spider mums.

  8. Terra,
Last year one of things I told myself was that I wanted to treat myself to flowers every now and then. I forgot about it this year, and it is time for a bouquet of flowers. These flowers are very interesting. I hope spring is coming your way.

  9. I too, love mums. I did treat myself to a bouquet of flowers last week, and the smell of spring in the house was awesome!

  10. I so agree. There is nothing like flowers to make things look pretty and those are really special. I think I will go out and buy some flowers today.

  12. When I had the flower shop, mums were a staple. They were less expensive than other blooms and came in so many colors, shapes, sizes. Now, after selling the shop, I treat myself to a bouquet of flowers every couple of weeks in the winter and cut my own blooms in the summer. You can take the florist out of the flower shop but you can't take the flowers out of the florist. ;-)

  13. Thank you so much for visiting my blog today.

I too love flowers..In the middle of Winter when things look a little gloomy, I definitely treat myself to some gorgeous bunches. Every child gets a bunch in their room. Kitchen and dining room get dressed with them too.. Nothing like taking in the beauty of their color and scent.

    Have a good day
    Warm regards

  15. Hi Terra, I do that too, by flowers for our home sometimes, just because.

    Those are very pretty!

Hope that you have a great weekend, and thanks so much for stopping by to see me.

  18. Thank you so much for visiting my blog and chiming in with comments. I loved your mums. I love cut flowers, too, but rarely buy them for myself. This Christmas, though, my oldest son's family gave me a lovely vase and a subscription to a bouquet-a-month club for several months. The first to arrive included a number of those spectacular lime green mums among the other blossoms and greenery. And I was immediately in love with that new-to-me variety. Enjoyed your post and the comments of your readers.

  21. Thanks so much for coming by Terra! Good to meet you! My time with Ceekay and Marty is always so special when I go to AZ. We just got back home to Colorado tonight- it is 12:00 a.m. and I never can just go from car to bed- have to wind down even at this time of night!

I love Trader Joe's for flowers- unfortunately we don't have one within 150 miles of us so I seldom pick them up there.

  22. dear Terra,
Thanks so much for your visit and comment. Love TJs
    Asiactic lilies... Devine smell...
Also your donkey post... What is it about so sweet animals?
Their smallness? Fuzziness? All of the above... I know I go crazy when I see one... There is a town in Arizona where they roam the streets... I made my husband drive 200 miles out of the way to go there..
I have just made plans to attend a four day music festival in Sturgeon Bay in June called the SteelBridge song fest...
    So excited...happy weekend,

  25. I do love the flowers at Trader Joe's, but no Whole Foods around here. But even our regular grocery stores have lovely flowers, and I indulge myself often!

  27. I have never seen them before. How unusual...and I like them!!! I don't usually buy myself flowers, but I think if you want and like them, why not.. Flowers make you feel happy and I suppose God gave them to us for just that reason. xx

  28. Those are lovely flowers. I love how delicate they look :-)

I am a bit odd I suppose. I LOVE plants, but I don't like cut flowers unless they are from my own garden. I suppose it's because once you cut a flower, it's essentially dying from that point on and it stirs up gruesome feelings in me.

  29. I love buying fresh flowers. They just make it so much nicer to wake up to seeing them on your nightstand in the mornings. Now that we've moved, we are incorporating more of them into our new yard. I love walking in a garden and seeing something new every day.

    Love and Hugs ~ Kat

  32. They are so pretty! Yes, I do. I love to buy carnations or daisies because they last longer and are so cheery!

  33. I love the photo of the spider mums. We don't have a Whole Foods nearby but we do have a Trader Joe's. I love tulips and although they're hard to find, I also love plumerias. I espcially love it when the blooms are long lasting and they smell good, too.

  36. Yes - I recently started treating myself to flowers so I could use them on my blog. Thank you for leaving a comment today. My garden is really not that big - just the right size really for someone who works a lot! Your spider mums are lovely!

  37. Hi there, when we lived in Santa Rosa, trader Joes and Costco were my favorite places to get flowers. Now here in Co. The nearest T.J's is being built and Costco is 45 min. Away. I do miss the beauty of Northern Ca. Winters.
