Happy Birthday Beatrix Potter

Isn't Beatrix Potter a lovely writer and woman?
She was born July 28 in 1866, grew up in Victorian era London, in a well to do family, and died in 1943.
What I most admire about her is that she bought a small farm holding in the English Lake District in 1905, added properties to it until she owned and preserved 4,300 acres, which she left to the National Trust.
She saved many small farms and allowed the farmers to continue working the land, and saved all that property from development.
People can visit her charming home at Hill Top Farm.

Of course I also love the delicate paintings she did and the stories she wove about Peter Rabbit, Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, Mrs. Tittlemouse, Tommy Tiptoe, Flopsy and all their friends. The movie Miss Potter was excellent, and dealt with her early career and her relationship with her fiancee.
So happy birthday dear Ms. Potter.

    I am a big fan of Beatrix Potter too. Her drawings are so enchanting and special. Whenever I look at them, they take me to another world - a place of wonder. I really enjoyed learning more about her.

    I love everything about her too Terra. The drawings are exquisite, the stories delightful. Her home is a dream and the film was wonderful. I have it in my collection and watch it from time to time.

    I am a huge fan of hers Terra. I am so thankful to her for saving so many farms. When I watched the movie of her life, I was heartbroken that her great love died before they could marry.

    Well, yes, Happy Birthday to a wonderful illustrator and writer.
    I was raised on Peter Rabbit and her wonderful drawings of his escape from Mr. McGregor's garden... and all her charming stories.
    What a wonderful legacy she left.

    Ahhhh Beatrix Potter. Each of my sons, as toddlers, had their own Beatrix Potter plate, bowl and cup!

    Terra dear, for some reason I love you in my Blog List file...sorry I haven't been by your blog lately.

    I adore Beatrix Potter. I have all my life. I have most of her books and DVD's when they were made into movies.

    I also love her biography and that she said she could have wallpapered several rooms with "rejection slips" when she was trying to get her books published.

    The movie of her life with Renne Stalwalker (I know that not how to spell it) but she did a great job in the movie. I had to go out and buy it, and have watched it many times, and it has been an encouragment to my own watercolors.

    A special lady. I treasure the few Potter creations I have. One is a 3 month simple pink cotton dress with the sweet bunny on it. I've had it since my daughter wore it 19 years age.

    Wouldn't it have been a blessing to have tea with her?

    Yes, I loved the movie Miss Potter,
    I had no idea it was about Beatrix
    Potter when hubby brought it home,
    but it was truly a wonderful movie,
    and sure love Peter Rabbit and her
    writings. Simply wonderful!

    Hi Terra!

    YES to Beatrix Potter! She was and is such an inspiration! Her lifestyle definitely gave her longevity!

    BTW, I live in Idaho now, but I am from Long Beach, CA. I saw that you live in CA.

    In reference to Crocs (on my blog), they do have a back strap. I have never had one slip off.

    Hi Terra! Your stories are always wonderful. Whenever I see those little blue and white tea cups I remember how sweet you were sharing the story behind them with me.
