Flowers on the sidewalk

On the walk I take several times a week, I recently saw these flowers growing on or over the sidewalk.
It makes me think of "flower power." Do you like to see flowers or weeds growing in a crack in cement, or flowing and crowding onto the sidewalk? The first photo is pink marguerites, the second yellow poppies and the third white poppies. Can you tell from the photo that the pink marguerites almost completely cover the sidewalk? The white poppies are growing where I can't see any dirt; just a crack between a metal pole and the cement sidewalk. I wonder, if people were no longer here, how long would it take for nature to cover all the cement?

  2. I love it when flowers pop up in such unexpected places and they are left alone to bloom there. I just adorn California poppies..always one of my favourites. Happy Easter week to you. xoxo

  4. Beautiful photos! I love seeing plant life ignore the barriers we try and put in it's way....
I'm thinking it wouldn't take long for the natural world to reclaim what it owned in the first place if humans weren't here.

  17. Beauty out of the cracks- love it. It doesn't take much to grow some plants and just a little space is all they need. Just like people. We all need to bloom where we are planted.

  20. Aren't they amazing? There are some flowers that do that every year here, but defy planting and thriving where I'd like them. It's the same with arbutus trees - they'll grow sideways out of a crack in the rock but refuse to be planted 2 meters away in good earth.
