Does this guy know what he is talking about? I definitely agree with him.


Do you plant a variety of tomatoes each year? I always do, with cherry tomatoes, Early Girl, Big Boy, and then some new to me, like Stupice and Zebra.

In my area, where we don't get ideal huge amounts of heat and sun, I sometimes plant San Francisco Fog, varieties from Russia, and Stupice which is from Poland. Cherry tomatoes do well here.

Some lucky folks from hotter areas have already harvested their tomatoes. Mine are still green and the stuff of dreams.

Of course I also plant basil and oregano to perfect future tomato salads.

What varieties of tomatoes do you favor?

    I plant 3 types of baby tomatoes in pots (the rest of my produce I buy at the farmer's market...) and I finally have a couple of tomatoes growing. We have had too much rain for the wee things! :(

    I love any fresh tomato off the vine.I think roma (egg) tomato are nice. Don't know many name varieties. I also grow basil. I chop uo fresh basil and tomato, add salt and a little garlic plus olive oil. Great with italian bread....I'm salivating!!!! YUM!

    I love homegrown tomatoes. They taste sooooo good! We used to have a garden, but then we built a garage & there's no more room.

    I really don't know tomatoes well, just what is nice and firm in the grocery store. I do like Roma tomatoes. I really should try some one of these years!

    Lovely tomatoes. I love tomatoes and living in an apartment am unable to have a garden. Not enough sunlight reaches the courtyard to grow them in a pot. :(

    Therefore, I enjoy seeing and following the harvests of other's. :)

    I love homegrown maters!! Your variety looks really different and yummy :-)
    We didnt plant a garden this year but our fav has been Sweet 100's or sometimes called Sweet 1000's. A mini cherry tomato that is SOooooo prolific all the way to the first frost.
    I have a taste for BLT's tonight!!

    Terra, This year I planted Brandywine, San Marino Roma's, Tigerella, Isis Candy Stripe, and a Black Cherry Tomato. I had the plesaure of eating one tomato so far. Delicious. Sparkles

    I don't grow anything since I have a very brown thumb. I tried tomatoes once, and the only thing I cultivated was an abundance of ugly ol' tomato worms. ICK.... I now rely on the generosity of green thumbed gardener friends or the local farmer's market. I envy those who can grow flowers and veggies!
    Terra, Thanks for the visit tonite. I was just klutzy when I stepped off the final rung of the ladder onto the floor. The basket was in my way the first time, the second time I tripped, the tub was at the foot of the ladder. Both times, I fell on my butt onto the carpet. I laffed and cursed myself both times. I WILL be more careful while doing my next project!

    G'morn ~ Our tomatoes (4 types) were doing fabulous until Miss Deer decided to have dessert one eve ... we have nothing right now. She even ate several of the vines to the stems ...

    Nothing better than home grown fresh BELT sandwiches ... tomatoes, lettuce, bacon, cheese & egg ... in the summer.

    My hubby has a garden and he plants a few different kinds , but I am not sure what they are. I love cherry and grape tomatos, but he doesn't plant those... I don't think. I should know this stuff, huh? Anyway they are still little green balls, hopefully we will be enjoying them soon.

    I have planted three kinds of cherry tomatoes...the regular kind (red), Sugar Sweet (orange), and Yellow Pear (yellow, of course). I also planted Beefsteak and Mr. Stripey.

    I love fresh tomatoes. In fact, when I was pregnant with our first baby, I craved them...couldn't eat enough of them!

    Hi Terra -

    I planted tomatoes, cucumbers, green bell peppers, eggplant, carrots, lettuce, parsley, basil, and oregano.

    While I've harvested quite a few veggies, I'm in an ongoing battle with the neighborhood woodchuck. It's always a race to see who's going to get the prize, him or me.
