Earl Grey Tea, Favorite Tea Cup and Fun Tea Quotes

This tea cup, a gift from a friend, is lovely inside and out.
This is the same tea cup, plus my current favorite tea, Double Bergamot Earl Grey. I like Earl Grey and sought out the double bergamot, the flavoring made from a special type of orange. Most Citrus bergamia is grown in the province of Reggio in southern Italy, and also in Cote d'Ivoire for the essential oil. Earl Grey tea was first advertised in London in the 1880s, and first appeared in England in the 1820s.
Here are some quotes about tea.
"What would the world do without tea? - how did it exist? I am glad I was not born before tea." Sydney Smith
"Stands the Church clock at ten to three? And is there honey still for tea?" Rupert Brooke
And one I like that is quite famous or infamous " Mr. Churchill, if you were my husband, I would poison your tea!" "And if you were my wife I would drink it!" Winston Churchill
Tea, an important beverage!
And yes, I like coffee too, which I grind fresh from coffee beans.
Do you have a favorite tea or tea cup?
I am praying for safety for all the people in the Houston area where the flooding is, and for the homes and the animals, and for recovery. Think cooling prayers for much of California as a few days of high heat has reached even me on the coast and inland and to the south is terribly hot.

I am a "tea-totaler"...never drink coffee. I like Earl Grey, Lady Grey, regular Lipton orange pekoe tea, and others...usually just drink my regular Lipton every day unless I am having a "party" (sometimes a party just for me!). Love your tea cup. That is really sweet. Love all the quotes. Thank you for sharing them with us. Have a blessed day and enjoy your tea!!

Yes, we are seeing a lot about the flooding in Texas on our televisions and now, tonight, there is also the flooding in Bangladesh. It is all quite terrifying.

I only like drinking from white cups that are thin. Hate Costa cups although I only go in there about twice a year. I'm a builders tea PG tips lover, although a drop of Assam is good now and again.

I'm more of a coffee addict lol....but I do have favourite cups that were made by a local potter.

Love the Churchill quote, oh to be able to pull quotes like that out of thin air when needed.

Such a beautiful cup. I only drink tea, no coffee for me. Plain Lipton orange pekoe is my favorite, but also flavored at times. We have broken records for heat all summer. Fires are raging here while it's flooding in the south. Crazy!!!
Blessings,
Betsy

You know your tea, Terra! Have you tried Lady Grey? I love Earl Grey and keep trying to remember to buy the other. I really love green tea. I know it has health benefits, but I've heard you have to drink about 5 cups per day to get a smidgen. I found an organic green tea with herbs and spices, very subtle, and I make iced tea with it. It's a hit with my family as well. I have 2-3 cups of coffee in the morning and that's it. Tea in the afternoon when its cool or cold, and maybe in the evening.

Great posit and subject!

I'm still scouting out some of the books I've read that you might be interested in after our last email. Bear with me.

I wish I loved hot tea! Love your cup and the quotes. However, I do love iced tea. I've been making a fruit tea concoction, with a tbs vinegar, 2 fruit flavored teabags steeped in a cup of hot water from the microwave, 3 tsp stevia. Add ice and water to make a quart. Its one recipe for good girl moonshine from Trim Healthy Mama.

Terra, Earl Grey is one of Nel's favorite teas. I like English Breakfast and Green tea. Your post hit right at home for me cause we are giving Jess a baby shower, and it is a "mad tea party" theme. : ) Posted a few pics of tea cups and ideas, and I love the fact that you are a tea lover too. I loooove coffee, and sometimes not sure which one I like more.

I hope you are doing well, and think about you often since your husband is gone. Take care, and happy September to you, Terra.

love, ~Sheri

I always drink tea, and never coffee. As for mugs/cups I have more than one favourite to choose from, depending a bit on my mood :) I have some old cups and saucers that were my grandmother's that I like to use sometimes - narrow at the bottom and wide at the top, which makes the tea cool off faster (good if you're in a bit of a hurry). I have some ceramics mugs that I got/bought for my 50th birthday, they're a nice size and shape to hold. And my latest addition since my 60th is a growing collection of Arabia Moomin mugs which I keep buying because I love the Moomin characters, each mug has a different image and colour and I like choosing which one to use... :)

Hi Terra,
I enjoy both tea and coffee. I always drink coffee in the mornings as tea doesn't agree with me early in the day. But the rest of the day tea is delightful! I have several favourites of tea, Chai being number one. I am quite fond of your Double Bergamot Earl Grey as well. I am so very sorry to hear of your hubby's passing. God bless you and comfort you. One doesn't really get over those tragedies. We just learn to live with them. Thank you for your visit and do take care.

Blessings,
Sandi

Thanks for visiting my blog. I like English Breakfast tea, Chinese Green Tea and Earl Grey. I saw an article on TV where the people in Britain are moving away from being tea drinkers, there is not as many as there used to be. Herbal teas and coffee are taking over.

For the morning, I am surely a small cake of coke for my caffeine girl, But as the weather changes I move to being an herb tea and gourmet hot choclate gal (for some reason I never go the taste of coffee thing, even in ice cream or chocolate). I do have pretty cups, usually seasonal ones. But I also have a collection of tea cups from my mom that I guess I should share sometime!

And yes, I am still alive, it's just that Living Richly In Retirement has that new url, lol.

I like both tea, coffee and a glass of wine. I usually have two or three cups of tea and coffee each day and a glass of wine. I have my favorite cups and glass for each. I like both English breakfast, earl grey, lady grey, chai. I brew most of my tea in my special tea pot. I went back to brewing my coffee in a percolator. It took forever to clean the Keugric and I didn't like disposing of all those pods. We have enough junk in the landfills as it is. They can be recycled if you clean each one out which defeats the quick cup of coffee, lol... Hugs, LJ

I like English breakfast tea and Red Bush from South Africa most of the time. I also like to take Earl Grey in the afternoons. It is best served in a bone china cup in my opinion and never in plastic.
Loved being reminded of your quotes.

I like any tea as long as it tastes like coffee :)

I love the colors of your teacup. And Earl Gray Bergamot is one of my favorites, too. I have two favorite tea cups, one pottery hand thrown one that feels so good in your hand and the other is a pale blue mug that has a tiny bluebird flying around the circumference and it says "Live Simply", something I often need a reminder of. I never drink coffee out of either one. They are my TEA cups! I liked your quotes.
