Farmers Market Goodies

I have a new addiction: shopping at the Farmers Market three minutes from our home.
Today I bought a dahlia bouquet, rainbow chard, radishes and sunny yellow zucchini. You can see them in these photos.
The Saturday before Fathers Day I also bought purple kohlrabi and lavender color radishes and home made horseradish mustard, a surprise for my husband for Fathers Day.
I like kohlrabi so much I bought some two weeks in a row; I peel it and eat it like an apple. It is good plain or with a little salt and is especially delicious when purchased from a farmers market, where it is freshly harvested.
All organic and grown locally. A feast for the eye and soul, and the veggies are tender and fresh.

Yum! I need to figure out what market is open when. There is one somewhere almost every day, I think. You've inspired me!

A feast for the eye and soul, indeed. Your purchases are beautiful. Once we get our book to the printer I plan to get to the farmers market once in a while, too.

Would so love a nearby farmer's market. I could also sell things from my garden and eggs.

Nothing quite like a good farmers market. They are plentiful in my part of the world and our chosen place to shop also. Your purchases look wonderful!

I love the farmer's market's too, and how lucky that you have one so close--I have to confess, I've never had kohlrabi, and will have to try it!

Enjoy your wonderful produce and your weekend!

Looks good. Lots of colors. Our market was too rainy today which is fine. We need the rain. No one is complaining. Love kohlrabi too. I just eat it raw.

We have a farmers market in town on Friday evenings during the summer but I've never been to it because I was doing other stuff. I think I'll make the effort this coming summer.

Thanks for asking about your comment, no, it did not come through, a pity because it sounds as though you said some nice things.
I also augment my garden produce at our Farmers' Market although it is a 35 min. drive away, it is such a nice country drive.
I like your blog.

Terra,
I love getting fruits and vegetables at the Farmer's Market too. How nice that it's only a few minutes from your house. My dad liked chard and my mom would cook it sometimes.

I hope you are enjoying the summer days.

love,
