My favorite bedtime story books

Do you have favorite bedtime story books to read to your kiddos, or that you recall from your own childhood?
Here is the list of favorite bedtime story books, a list we wrote for our co-authored book “Scrapbook of Motherhood Firsts: Stories to Celebrate and Wisdom to Bless Moms”.

The Runaway Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown.
Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown.
Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.
The Little House on the Prairie series and The American Girl books.
The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. Great to read aloud at bedtime.
If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Joffe Numeroff.
Elbert’s Bad Word by Audrey Wood.
Dr. Seuss books.

My little loves really like Goodnight Moon and my big loves enjoyed The Bad Bunny when they were little.

Mother Goose was one of my favorite books to read to the kids. There were so many stories and poems. They never got tired of it. When they got older, they had a half hour before bed when they had to read in bed before sleep. I think they still read before bedtime.

A lot of your favorites are my favorites too. I read a lot of books to my sons when they were small. I have very good memories of those times.

When I was a child, my older sister would make up a story every night to tell me. It was the best.

...well, it wasn't a 'bedtime' story, but both my kids just adored "Lamont the Lonely Monster".

Hi Terra! When I was a kid, I never have that much liking for books. Ironically, I learned to appreciate the company of books as I'm growing up. I never experienced being read bed time stories as I have busy parents and I understood it. :) Though my favorite kiddie stories include Cinderella, Rapunzel and Little Red Riding Hood :)

Thanks for helping bring back tender moments with my children. My kids favorite books were anything about Raggedy Ann or Dr Seuss

I love this list.

Confession: I hate the Runaway Bunny. The mama shows such love and the baby bunny takes her for granted. Crazy I know. I'm one of the few people that hates The Giving Tree too. Kinda for the same reason.

I do looove all the others on this list though. :)
