Baby Bunny

Baby Bunny

Something very unusual happened at our house this week. I saw an adorable brown rabbit on my patio. The rabbit came close to the patio sliding glass door and looked around.
I thought "how cute, how precious."
We often have skunk visitors and possums but no rabbits until now.
After I thought about the rabbit I realized that this is not a visitor to encourage. Will he eat my strawberries! My lettuce! Oh no!
A friend told me to sprinkle cayenne pepper around lettuce to protect it. Have you tried that?
Anyway, I have not seen the brown little fluffy guy since then, which is best for my garden, and no signs of garden munching thus far.

What a wonderful and furry surprise that showed up unannounced today. Love how cute they are, but you are right, they can devastate a garden. Enjoy him while he lasts however.

Cayenne and garlic spray. Two ways to keep munching down.

We also have big,big slugs that eat everything and are hard to control.

No wonder commercial growers use pesticides. It's a tough decision.

Thanks for stopping by to say hi. I like meeting new bloggers. Bunnies.....hmmmmmm..we have them too.

I don''t use cayene because of my dog, but I do plant garlic and that does seem to deter them.

Hi, Terra!

First of all I want to thank you for stopping by my blog and commenting on my post. I planted marigolds and zinnias, I was told anyone could grow those from seed. The marigolds are the ones in the picture and they are doing well but something has eaten most of the zinnias.

I love bunnies but they love gardens and plants so they are not the best critters to have around if you garden. I had a pet bunny for a couple of years that stayed inside all the time. Bunnies cannot get through our fence though so we only see squirrels and birds in our yard.

I will be following your blog. I have been looking around and have really enjoyed reading your posts.

Hugs!

Well, I just let the rabbits hee have their share of everything. Surprisingly, in my flowerbed, they nest and come out to eat the clover in the yard.
I have a few strawberry plants that went *feral* and the small berries they produce are for the bunnies.
I used to sprinkle bloodmeal around my vegetable garden; helped the plants and the rabbits did not care for it.

What a cutie! I'm guessing he has family somewhere so your veggies might be at risk. I'm not sure about cayenne but it's always worth a try. It's so hard to be mad when they're so cute.

He may eat your garden but he is adorable! Have a great weekend.

He's a cutie - but they do eat through everything. I've heard the pepper thing too, but don't know if it works.

I have heard that will work. Let us know how it goes! The rabbit is cute! I have seen some "Hares" down south that scared me so bad I screamed. That thing was so big I thought it was a small deer at first. (I think I was still screaming at the time).

Cayenne pepper does deter chipmunks but I don't know about rabbits. He sure is adorable.

They look much cuter when they are not in our gardens!

Howdy Terra
What a fantastic surprise.
It took me forever to figure out we had one of these cute little bunny visitors in our neighborhood late one night I saw the fur baby as it was busy destroying my roses :)
Bunny was so content it didn't even hop away ?????
I love these adorable creatures but not the destruction,we put out moth balls as a friend told me to do this and it seemed to work .
Later I tried the pepper treatment which was much better for all of us :)
Thank you for sharing your latest adventure with us .
Blessings to you and yours .
Big hugs
Until next time
Happy Trails

What a dear little rabbit. It looks like a young one and maybe it has strayed? or maybe he just likes lettuce? Perhaps he will find some bigger ones next door!

He's adorable ... but they will eat your garden in one felled swoop! Cayenne should do the trick.

We have lots of these little fellas visit us ... it is such fun to watch them hip hop all over the place.

Have a lovely week.

Good luck with the bunny! They are so cute, but what a pain in a garden. I lose so many beautiful flowers to munching bunnies every year!

The bunny's really cute. We have so much wild life around here but I have never seen a bunny w/c is good I guess, since I have a vegetable garden...Christine

No---you do NOT want to encourage rabbits... I haven't seen any here this year (so far)--but they will eat alot of stuff in your garden. One year they even ATE my Impatiens.... Can't imagine that--but they did.

I love all of the little critters around --but all of them can do damage, in one way or another (squirrels, chipmunks, etc.).

Fun fun!!!!!
Hugs,
Betsy
