Memorial Day weekend

This photo was taken by my husband, while on vacation in Connecticut, of a Revolutionary War reenactment.

On this Memorial Day weekend we pause to give thanks to all soldiers in all branches of the military who have given their lives to preserve our freedoms. I also thank all who have been wounded, and pray for safety for all military personnel who are serving today. Thank you!

Wow, Will Rogers spoke wise and funny words.
Imagine a parrot repeating to the town gossip what we say when we are angry or annoyed. That is not a pretty scenario.
But what beauty parrots have. Have you all seen the movie about the wild parrots of San Francisco? I think it is called "Parrots of Telegraph Hill." We read the book and saw the movie, and both are entertaining.

Last Christian, suspense novel giveaway

I read an exciting novel, set in A.D. 2088, and titled "The Last Christian", written by David Gregory. The author wrote a best selling novel "Dinner With a Perfect Stranger".
The United States, in this work of fiction, has abandoned the Christian religion, and the world is on the brink of disaster. A scientist has decided to kill a billion people to push the survivors in to adopting his invention. The heroine is Abby Caldwell, who was raised by her parents in a remote village in the South Pacific. Abby is a devoted Christian who travels to the United States and experiences culture shock.
This book was provided for review by Waterbrook Multnomah Publishing Group, and I am giving my copy to one person who leaves a comment here. I pick the winner using random.org
Abby inadvertently breaks the Tolerance Act of 2036, when she spoke critically about other religions on a news show, and she faces being arrested for that. This act reminds me of recent actual laws which ban hate speech, both in the USA and in Australia.
Sometimes fiction, even science fiction, is eerily predictive of what could happen.

Someone will win, and that winner could be you :)

Baby Bunny

Something very unusual happened at our house this week. I saw an adorable brown rabbit on my patio. The rabbit came close to the patio sliding glass door and looked around.
I thought "how cute, how precious."
We often have skunk visitors and possums but no rabbits until now.
After I thought about the rabbit I realized that this is not a visitor to encourage. Will he eat my strawberries! My lettuce! Oh no!
A friend told me to sprinkle cayenne pepper around lettuce to protect it. Have you tried that?
Anyway, I have not seen the brown little fluffy guy since then, which is best for my garden, and no signs of garden munching thus far.

My Strawberry Heart

What can be prettier than a juicy strawberry heart?
You can't really tell but this is a BIG strawberry. I had just discovered a blog that has photos of heart shaped objects, and then brought home strawberries from the store, and right there in the container was this cute heart shaped berry.
The website is by Clytie and you can visit her at clytie-randomhearts.blogspot.com
My husband took this photo, thank goodness, one less thing I've had to learn!

Happy Momma Day to all moms, everywhere. We call Mothers Day Momma Day, at our house.
Here is a photo of a perfect pink rose which symbolizes love and beauty to me, so a photo or a real rose is a good way to celebrate Moms.
My own mom is in heaven, for many years now, and my sons and my husband treat me specially good on Momma Day.
If you have a mom around be sure to hug her! Or call her!
