Mystery writing involving herbs

I love reading mysteries, and found a fun series combining mystery and garden lore. Yes, Susan Wittig Albert’s cozy mysteries about China Bayles, owner of an herb store in Pecan Grove, Texas.
I bought two of the books, and learned that there are now 16 in this series, and that the author is on a book blog tour, where you can visit and leave a comment, and have a chance to win a copy of her newest book Nightshade.
The calendar for the blogs to visit is at http://www.abouthyme.com/ and the tour runs till April 11, 2008.
Do you enjoy growing herbs? I have lots of them, basil, chocolate mint, dill, culinary sage, chamomile, orange mint, lemon verbena, fever few, cilantro, peppermint, rosemary, apple mint, and more. Technically some of these are not herbs, but you know what I mean, I hope.
What are your favorite herbs to grow and use?

Hey, Terra--thanks for mentioning the books and the blog tour! It's been fun, especially the comments and conversation that follows the posts.

My favorite herb? Rosemary, without a doubt. I love the way it tastes, smells, blooms. And I also love the fact that the deer hate it. They happily snack on my roses, but they won't even nibble the rosemary!

I love all of my herbs. Just being in the area when the dew is on the ground and the sun is coming out, makes me feel good all day long. The fragrance of them blending together is very relaxing.

Wow. Thanks for the suggested reading. My cozy uses a unique poison from dart frogs. Not as easily obtained as herbs which sounds intriguing. Going to hop over and take a look. Ooooh didn't mean to make a pun.

Hi Susan,
Thanks for visiting my blog. Your books are perfect for gardeners, of course.
I do like rosemary too. I have 3 prostrate rosemary and one more standard type. Rosemary is one of Mary's flowers, and I have it around a statue of her, in my Mary garden.
My husband and I use it in cooking, yum.

I love the Nora Roberts "In the Garden" trilogy, about a woman who owns a garden center, her family, and staff. I wish she'd write more stories in the series. I hated to see it end with the third book. This series has suspense, mystery, and even a ghost!

I'm looking forward to reading Susan Wittig Albert's Tale of Hill Top Farm. I just got it recently. I love Beatrix Potter.
